Launch a Startup in 54 Hours.
Startup Weekend brings together highly motivated groups of developers, designers, business managers, marketing gurus and startup enthusiasts, to 54-hour events around the globe that build communities, companies and projects.
Beginning with open mic pitches on Friday, attendees bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team. Over Saturday and Sunday teams focus on customer development, validating their ideas, practicing LEAN Startup Methodologies and building a minimal viable product. On Sunday evening teams demo their prototypes and receive valuable feedback from a panel of experts.
As of October 2012, 672 events had been held, involving 57,000 entrepreneurs across more than 300 cities in over 100 countries, and over 5,000 startups have been created. Sponsors include The Kauffman Foundation, Google and Microsoft. Among the Boards of Directors and Advisors are TechStars co-founders Brad Feld and David Cohen, author and serial entrepreneur Steve Blank, and Zaarly co-founder Eric Koester.
Startups in the idea stage interested in applying to Blueseed, are strongly encouraged to get a prototype started at a local Startup Weekend event.
