A catalyst for tech in the Cape
Silicon Cape is a community of tech entrepreneurs, developers, creatives, angel investors, and VCs who are passionate about entrepreneurship and the roles they play in the future of South Africa. The Silicon Cape Initiative is a government-funded, non-profit, community owned and driven movement, that aims to improve the environment in the Western Cape to create more and better startups as well as increase access to capital. It hosts 7,000 entrepreneurs at various events and is literally the connecting point of tech startups in South Africa.
Silicon Cape was co-founded in 2009 by high-tech entrepreneur Vinny Lingham, also a co-founder of Bit Angels, the world's first distributed angel investors group focused on Bitcoin, whose first investment was in Blueseed.
